Blogging at viz.

close-up photograph of an eyeI am thrilled to announce that during the upcoming year, I’ll be periodically blogging at viz., the Kairos award-winning visual rhetoric blog run entirely by graduate students.  Check out my first post (on flash mobs!) here:

The ethos of the flash mob, like the ethos of the musical, is in carefully walking that line between joyous spontaneity and contrivance in order to encourage the audience to suspend disbelief and go along for the ride.

viz. is a fantastic read for those interested in visual communication and houses a vast knowledge-base for researchers and instructors, including links to art and photography archives, sample assignments, and practical info on using and manipulating images you find on the web.
